Armenia starts exporting wine to Belgium under new brand
Armenian wine has begun being exported to Belgium under a new private label following an agreement reached between Armenian and Belgian partners, Ara Marutyan, co-founder of the Export Armenia Experts Association, has stated.
He noted that the first shipment had already been dispatched before he publicly announced the deal, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"I waited until the first shipment had been sent before writing about it," Marutyan said. "About 15 days ago, at my suggestion and at the invitation of Hin Areni Wine ambassador Ara Migranyan, we visited Areni together with Lyudmila Abramyan, founder of the Belgian company Ludas BV, and Karen Davidovich, chairman of the Armenian community of Moldova, along with his wife."
According to Marutyan, the delegation toured the Areni Cave, local vineyards and the Wine Bank before taking part in a wine tasting at the Hin Areni winery and having lunch at the Mashik restaurant.
"The experience was so positive that later that evening we reached an agreement to produce and supply wines to Belgium under the Ludas private label. The motto 'Made by Armenians'—'an Armenian for an Armenian'—always remains relevant," he added.
