Armenia teams up with FIA to drive motorsport forward
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan has met with Valerio Iachizzi, Secretary General for Sport of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), the governing body of Formula 1, to explore collaboration, highlighting the country’s ambitions to become a key player in international motorsport.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Armenia and the FIA, including potential Formula 1 initiatives, with the aim of fully utilizing the country’s industrial and engineering capabilities in motorsport, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Discussions also addressed leveraging international motorsport events to promote tourism, enhancing Armenia’s investment attractiveness, and reinforcing its global profile.
Papoyan emphasized the Armenian government’s commitment to supporting joint initiatives and reviewing proposals of mutual interest, signaling a strategic push to position the country as a hub for motorsport development and international events.
