Armenia to host CIS Sports Games in 2029

Armenia will host the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sports Games in 2029, the country’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has said.

The decision was made at a meeting of the CIS Council for Physical Culture and Sport in Almaty, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

Yerevan had previously been offered the chance to host the Games in 2027, but Armenian authorities said they were not ready to stage the event at the time.

The Armenian city of Gyumri was named the CIS Sports Capital in 2024.
