Armenia to recount votes in Yerevan, Central Election Commission says

10 June 2026 13:50

The Central Election Commission of Armenia has announced that a recount of votes will be conducted at most polling stations in the capital, Yerevan.

The request was submitted by representatives of the Wings of Unity party, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

“There is little time for the recount — the process must be completed by 14:00 on Friday,” said CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan.

He also noted that the issue of a possible recount requested by the Prosperous Armenia party, which fell short of the threshold to enter parliament by a small margin, remains unclear.

Armenia’s parliamentary elections were held on June 7. According to preliminary results released by the CEC from all 2,005 polling stations, the ruling Civil Contract party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received 49.825% of the vote.

The Strong Armenia bloc led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan secured 23.281%, while the Armenia Alliance bloc headed by former President Robert Kocharyan won 9.934%.

The Prosperous Armenia party of businessman Gagik Tsarukyan received 3.996% of the vote and failed to enter parliament. Voter turnout stood at 58.97%.
