Armenia, US prepare agreement for TRIPP regional trade initiative
Armenia and the United States are preparing an intergovernmental agreement to establish the legal mechanisms for implementing the TRIPP project— the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that negotiations between the two countries are progressing steadily, TASS reports.
“Negotiations between Armenia and the United States on TRIPP have not slowed down and are proceeding in a natural course. The first step was announced in August, and the second—on January 14—represented a substantial step that was agreed upon, published, and is currently being implemented. The next step will be the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement providing the legal mechanisms. Work on this document is now underway,” Mirzoyan said.
Regarding the position of Iran, the minister noted that Iranian officials have publicly confirmed multiple times that Armenia has provided them with the relevant information and that they have no objections.
“We are speaking exclusively about a transport project that will create economic opportunities for Armenia, Azerbaijan, and all neighboring countries, including Iran,” Mirzoyan added, emphasizing the project’s regional economic significance.
The TRIPP initiative is intended to enhance regional connectivity and facilitate trade while supporting economic development across the South Caucasus and neighboring states.
