Armenia to take into account possible CSTO expulsion, PM says
Armenia will take into account a possible decision by CSTO member states to exclude the country from the organisation, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated.
Speaking after a government meeting, Pashinyan said he knows that there is a mechanism for expulsion from the CSTO, and it is operational, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“If member states decide to exclude Armenia, we will have to take that decision into account. We cannot do anything else,” he noted.
Recently, the PM has reaffirmed that Armenia will not restore its participation in the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), signalling a continued distancing from the military alliance.
“The Republic of Armenia’s membership in the CSTO is frozen, and no steps will be taken to resume activities. And this is stated in our election platform,” Pashinyan declared.
