Armenian activist calls for Dashnaks to be held accountable to Azerbaijanis
Armenian civil activist and blogger Ishkhan Verdyan has stated that the Dashnaks and leaders of the “Karabakh clan” must answer for their actions before the Azerbaijani people.
“I am well acquainted with Azerbaijanis and I know their feelings and thoughts about what happened. I also know about the families of the martyrs who lost the most precious thing in their lives because of this enmity," Caliber.Az quotes him as saying on Telegram.
"However, I believe in the kindness of Azerbaijanis as people, and in their sincerity and humanity in the desire to achieve a genuine peace.
I also embrace the memory of Azerbaijanis that for several centuries our peoples lived together. People from Baku, Ganja, and other cities of Azerbaijan still remember the times when Armenians lived alongside them, and they speak warmly of those times.
That means peaceful coexistence of the two peoples is quite possible and is confirmed historically. But the instigators of the conflict today — and the ones who started it — are the Dashnaks, who appeared in the region in 1987, ruined everything, and continue to spoil it to this day.
And on that basis I make the proposal that the Dashnaks should answer for what they have done before the Azerbaijani people. Every leader of the so‑called ‘Karabakh clan’ and their accomplices must bear punishment where the Azerbaijani state decides.
Moreover, this will inevitably be done. In the new Armenia there should be no place for people who spread a fascist ideology and, on that basis, fuel ethnic conflict.
I am sure everything will be fine. Peace is inevitable, an honest peace,” he wrote.
