Armenian party linked to Russian tycoon accused of vote-buying

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has reported a new case of alleged voter bribery involving the “Strong Armenia” party linked to Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan.

Investigators believe members of the political force distributed pre-election bribes to citizens in the town of Alaverdi, together with other individuals, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

According to the investigation, the funds were allegedly disguised as salaries paid to employees of the party’s offices.

However, these individuals were not officially registered as staff members.

Authorities said a criminal case has been opened, and several people have already been detained as part of the investigation.
