15 September 2025 17:03
A new hearing has begun at a Yerevan court in the case against Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, who is accused of publicly calling for the overthrow of the government, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Ajapahyan faces charges related to incitement aimed at seizing power and undermining the country’s sovereignty. He was arrested on June 29.
For the record, Ajapahyan, arrested on June 27, 2025, and charged under Part 2 of Article 422 of the Armenian Criminal Code, has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as politically motivated amid broader tensions between the government and the church.
