Armenian authorities investigate alleged voter bribery claims
20 July 2026 10:43
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has launched an inquiry into allegations of voter bribery in the Masis municipality of the Ararat region ahead of local elections held on June 7.
The committee received information suggesting that supporters of the “Strong Armenia” party allegedly offered financial compensation to a group of voters in exchange for their support, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
The Anti-Corruption Committee said the alleged payments were arranged in advance and involved promises of monetary rewards for backing the political party.
The party is led by Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who has been described by Armenian and international media as a prominent oligarch.
