Armenian authorities warn revanchists against constitutional overthrow at upcoming protest
The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has issued a warning to opposition leaders ahead of a protest rally planned for the evening of October 2, 2024, urging them to refrain from making statements that could incite an overthrow of the constitutional order.
"The NSS calls on representatives of opposition political forces during the rally scheduled for October 2, 2024, at Republic Square in Yerevan to avoid statements advocating the seizure of power, the violent overthrow of the constitutional order, the use of violence against individuals or groups under any circumstances, public calls to resist authorities, or any acts of violence," the security service's statement reads, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media
The rally, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, marks a new stage in the political struggle against the government of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The first protest is set to take place on Republic Square, where key government buildings, including the Prime Minister’s office, are located.
Additionally, the Armenian police have echoed the NSS's call, urging participants to maintain public order during the rally.
