Kazakhstan concludes CSTO drills involving 1,500 troops

18 September 2026 16:26

Joint military exercises involving four Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member states have ended in Kazakhstan after six days of drills.

The Rubezh-2026 exercises were held from September 13 to 18 at the Koktal training ground in the Zhetisu Region, Kazakhstan's Defence Ministry said.

Military personnel from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan practised operations to block and eliminate illegal armed groups, liberate a settlement and evacuate civilians.

About 1,500 servicemen and CSTO operational groups took part in the exercises, according to the ministry.

More than 300 pieces of military and specialised equipment, along with 115 drones of various types, were also involved.
