Armenian catholicos urges to reshape fading diaspora
Patriarch of the Armenian Catholicosate "Great House of Cilicia" Aram I is concerned over serious threats and challenges facing all the Armenians, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"The diaspora is already in the process of exhaustion and needs to be reorganised immediately. It has become indifferent to itself and to Armenia, especially in recent years, after the 44-day war in Karabakh...," the Patriarch said in an interview with Cilicia TV.
Aram I stressed that the Armenian youth have notably distanced themselves from the Church and national life.
The cleric is also dissatisfied with the way the current global challenges have impacted the lives of the Armenian people.
"From now on, we cannot build walls around our communities and live in isolation. In the past, our language, culture and traditions guaranteed and strengthened our identity. Globalisation has destroyed all possible barriers and boundaries in the lives of all peoples; we have to live in a multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-ethnic society," Aram I added.
