Armenian Church loses right to receive free land

Armenia will limit the practice of transferring state and municipal land to the ownership of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Amendments to the Land Code, initiated by the government, were adopted by the parliament in the second and final reading.

Under the new regulations, state and municipal authorities will be able to grant land to the Church only on the basis of perpetual use, without transferring ownership rights, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The changes are not retroactive and will apply exclusively to new decisions on land allocations.
