Armenian court orders arrest of ex-president’s brother
10 March 2026 14:22
An Armenian court has issued an arrest order in absentia for Alexander Sargsyan, the brother of former Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan.
The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia announced that a request for Alexander Sargsyan’s arrest has already been submitted by the preliminary investigation body, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
If the former president’s brother is located, the court will reconsider the issue of placing him under arrest.
Alexander Sargsyan, along with his sons Hayk and Narek, came under the spotlight of law enforcement agencies in 2018 following Armenia’s Velvet Revolution. He was accused of tax evasion, and in 2024, authorities sought to confiscate his assets.
