Armenian court orders one-month detention for Catholicos’ relatives over hooliganism

Armenian authorities have placed the nephew of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II, under one-month detention, according to a ruling by the court of general jurisdiction in the Armavir region.

The decision came after Armenia’s Investigative Committee requested the detention of 68-year-old Gevork Nersisyan, the Catholicos’ brother, and his son, Ambartsum Nersisyan, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.

Both were arrested on charges of hooliganism and obstructing an electoral campaign in the town of Vagharshapat.

On November 3, Gevork Nersisyan was also placed in custody for one month.
