Armenian defence layoffs: Top officials set to be dismissed shortly
The Armenian Ministry of Defence will soon lose its Head of Logistics, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Colonel Aram Poghosyan confirmed his impending departure in an interview with Graparak, noting that it is a personal decision. According to Poghosyan, he is eligible for early retirement, which he intends to pursue.
However, the Armenian publication admits that the ministry may soon witness further dismissals. Deputy Defence Minister Karen Brutyan and Head of the Construction Department Vahagn Stepanyan are also expected to be relieved of their positions.
In an earlier event similar to this, Armenia Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he had asked a number of high-ranking officials to step down from their positions. The officials were reported to include Vahe Ghazaryan, the interior minister; Karen Andreasyan, chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council; Sasun Khachatryan, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee; Argishti Kyaramyan, chairman of the Investigative Committee; Gnel Sanosyan, the territorial administration and infrastructures minister; and Rustam Badasian, chairman of the State Revenue Committee.
