Armenian defence minister reports stable situation on Azerbaijan border

The security situation along the Armenian–Azerbaijani border remains calm, though Armenia’s armed forces will, as customary, maintain heightened vigilance during the New Year holidays, Defence Minister Suren Papikyan said.

Speaking to journalists, Papikyan noted that there is currently no cause for concern regarding the border situation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

According to the minister, the armed forces are presently contending with challenges stemming from adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and snowstorms. These factors complicate the organization of military service, particularly during the winter months, when roads leading to positions in high-altitude areas are often closed.

Papikyan added that efforts are underway to clear access routes and ensure uninterrupted communications to maintain operational readiness.
