Armenian deputy speaker urges opposition to self-dissolve
16 June 2026 17:46
Opposition forces contesting the results of parliamentary elections should not receive parliamentary mandates, Deputy Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan has stated.
Speaking at a briefing on June 16, Rubinyan said he believes the opposition should self-dissolve.
“We initially believed that the registration of these forces should have been cancelled, as they were involved in distributing electoral bribes,” Rubinyan said.
He added that the ruling party is not interested in annulling the election results.
“As for the election results, we do not want the elections to be cancelled, because the parliamentary majority is legitimate, our votes are legitimate, and we will form the government,” he said.
