Armenian economy minister to travel to Russia for talks on export issues
Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan is planning one or two visits to Russia in June and July to participate in various events and discuss the export of Armenian products.
The minister said he will meet with Russian counterparts to discuss issues related to Armenian exports, which, according to him, are not the kind of matters that can create tension, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
On May 15, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) announced plans to inspect several Armenian enterprises whose exports to Russia had previously been suspended.
On May 22, it imposed restrictions on flower imports.
On May 30, it introduced temporary bans on imports of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, leafy greens, and strawberries from Armenia.
From June 2, restrictions were extended to stone fruits and grapes, followed on June 3 by bans on apples, pears, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits.
On June 11, Rosselkhoznadzor announced a ban on all regulated plant products from Armenia.
More than 90% of Armenia’s agricultural exports are destined for Russia.
