Armenian FM confirms ongoing normalization talks with Türkiye
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan confirmed that Armenia is actively participating in the ongoing process of normalizing relations with Türkiye.
Speaking at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), Mirzoyan expressed confidence that full settlement, particularly through the establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of borders, would significantly contribute to regional peace and stability, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
"We are continuing this dialogue and have taken practical steps," Mirzoyan stated, emphasizing the importance of the ongoing efforts.
The minister also highlighted a notable agreement between Armenia and Türkiye to jointly restore the historic Ani Bridge. He explained that this initiative complements previous decisions, such as the establishment of direct air communication between the two countries and the removal of barriers to air freight traffic.
Additionally, Mirzoyan mentioned that both countries agreed to open the border for holders of diplomatic passports and citizens from third countries, though this has not yet been implemented.
According to Mirzoyan, the successful implementation of these agreements will not only benefit Armenia and Türkiye but will also have a positive impact on the entire region. The unblocking of transport routes, he argued, will play a crucial role in promoting regional peace and stability.
