Armenian FM rejects speculation over US top diplomat's planned visit
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has dismissed suggestions that the planned visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Armenia is linked to the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media reports, Mirzoyan rejected speculation that the anticipated visit carries any electoral significance.
“What do elections have to do with it? How could they possibly be connected?” the Armenian foreign minister said when asked whether Rubio’s trip to Armenia was tied to the forthcoming vote.
Mirzoyan also declined to reveal details regarding the agreements expected to be signed during the visit, stating only that further information would be disclosed at a later stage.
According to media reports, talks between Mirzoyan and Rubio are expected to take place in Yerevan, after which several documents are scheduled to be signed.
