Armenian foreign minister, CSTO secretary general discuss situation in South Caucasus
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov discussed the situation in the South Caucasus in Yerevan.
"During the meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan and Imangali Tasmagambetov exchanged thoughts on the situation in the region, projects aimed at the development of transport and economic ties, including the "Crossroads of Peace" concept developed by the government of the Republic of Armenia," TASS reports, citing the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the activities of the organization. According to the report, the CSTO Secretary General informed the Armenian Foreign Minister about the results of the November session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the joint session of the CSTO Ministerial Council, as well as about the meetings of the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Council.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and representatives of the Armenian Foreign Ministry repeatedly stated that Yerevan is not discussing the possibility of withdrawing from the CSTO at the moment, but Armenia's representatives have not participated in the organization's events in recent months. Armenia has also withdrawn its representative from the CSTO.
