Armenian general Khachatryan faces new hooliganism charge
Former Armenian Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan, has been charged with an additional offence, according to his lawyer.
Varazdat Harutyunyan said in a Facebook post that his client is now accused of hooliganism, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Investigators allege that in September 2023, Khachatryan struck a vehicle that was moving toward a group of people who had blocked a street. Further details of the incident have not been publicly disclosed.
The new charge comes in addition to an earlier criminal case opened in January 2025, in which Khachatryan was accused of negligence in the performance of his duties during the 44-day war.
Khachatryan, who previously served as the First Deputy Chief of Armenia’s General Staff, has not publicly commented on the latest accusation.
