Armenian government gives green light to carrying weapons
MP Vilen Gabrielyan of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party, the author of the legislative initiative, has said that Armenia should resolve the issue of citizens’ right to self-defence through the use of weapons at the legislative level.
Gabrielyan made these remarks at a meeting of the National Assembly while discussing bills on changes and additions to the law “On regulating arms circulation” and amendments to the related laws on December 8, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
He noted that the presented package, besides its main protective function, also pursues the goal of developing shooting sports.
“It is aimed at eliminating possible cases of corruption in this sphere, reducing the number of illegal weapons and their gradual withdrawal from illegal circulation,” Gabrielyan added.
Armenian citizens will be entitled to carry firearms if they meet several requirements, including mental stability, an appropriate license, and so on.
