Armenian government staff pressures civil servants for attending revanchist rallies

21 June 2024 11:42

According to Caliber.Az, reports from Armenian media indicate that the Armenian state apparatus has initiated measures to pressure employees involved in meetings and rallies associated with the revanchist movement.

Yerevan-based newspaper "Hraparak" notes that mid-level officials are scrutinizing protest videos to identify participants among their subordinates. Upon identification, these civil servants are compelled to provide explanations and face potential consequences.

In one instance cited by the newspaper, a department head discovered that nearly all of their staff, save for a few, regularly attended rallies. The head then attempted to coerce these employees, some of whom were seasoned professionals, to conform to government policies by suggesting resignation if they did not comply.

"The employees responded firmly, asserting that the state apparatus belongs to the public and that participating in rallies is their constitutional right," the article highlighted.
