Armenian intelligence warns of foreign interference in upcoming elections
The Foreign Intelligence Service of Armenia has issued a statement alleging pressure on Armenian citizens in a certain country and possible interference in Armenia’s forthcoming electoral processes.
The agency released the full text of the statement outlining the concerns, Caliber.Az reports.
In its statement, the Foreign Intelligence Service said it had received intelligence indicating that in an unnamed country, individuals presenting themselves as representatives of that state’s special services are attempting to exert pressure on people of Armenian origin and citizens of the Republic of Armenia who conduct economic activities there.
The agency said these individuals are allegedly encouraging the targeted businessmen to take actions in support of certain political forces that have announced their intention to participate in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections.
According to the statement, such actions include, but are not limited to, providing financial and organizational support from these businessmen to the political forces in question.
