Armenian, Iranian officials discuss bilateral ties, regional infrastructure
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, in Yerevan on January 8 for Armenia–Iran political consultations, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The discussions focused on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. Both officials highlighted an existing political agreement to elevate Armenia–Iran relations to the level of a strategic partnership and reviewed ongoing efforts in this regard, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Mirzoyan emphasised the strategic importance of Armenia’s ties with neighbouring Iran and recalled that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have agreed to formally elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership later this year.
The meeting also addressed regional infrastructure initiatives. The officials exchanged views on programmes currently being developed and the opportunities they present for both countries.
