Armenian lawmaker denies talks with Russia over TRIPP project
Armenia has no discussions with Russia regarding participation in the TRIPP project, a senior Armenian lawmaker has said.
According to Caliber.Az, Ruben Rubinyan, deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament, told local media that “there have been no such discussions,” adding: “I cannot comment on or explain their statements.”
Earlier, Mikhail Kalugin, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Fourth CIS Countries Department, said that Russia is prepared to consult with Armenia on the Trump Route initiative.
Speaking to Armenian media, Kalugin stressed that while the project’s specifics require careful review, Moscow is open to dialogue on both its content and potential Russian involvement.
He noted that the route overlaps with areas under Russian railway and border control, and highlighted Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union as a factor making Russia’s participation important.
