Armenian media: Hakobyan's China study plan behind split with Pashinyan
03 March 2026 10:04
The official separation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his civil partner Anna Hakobyan was preceded by years of strained relations, writes the Yerevan-based newspaper Hraparak.
According to the publication, in 2019–2020, the couple lived apart for about a year, but later reconciled.
The newspaper reports that the situation worsened again in mid-2025. Graparak notes that Hakobyan’s plans to study in China were connected to the crisis in her relationship with the prime minister.
The publication also states that for the past three months, Hakobyan had been staying at the government’s summer residence in Sevan.
