Armenian minister affirms right to opt out of gasoline imports from Azerbaijan

24 December 2025 14:35

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan has emphasized that citizens are entitled to make their own decisions regarding the purchase of gasoline from Azerbaijan.

As Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media, speaking to the public Papoyan stated:

“Dear citizens, you retain full autonomy in your decision-making,” emphasizing the possibility of declining gasoline imported from Azerbaijan.

He further explained, “The role of the state is to ensure a wide range of choices for you,” underscoring the government’s commitment to providing consumers with alternatives.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the import of Azerbaijani gasoline into Armenia and the broader public debate on the acceptability of such supplies, reflecting sensitivities around economic and political ties between the two countries.
