Armenian minister highlights growth in Iranian tourist influx
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan highlighted the rise in tourism from Iran to Armenia, noting that 166,000 Iranian tourists visited the country from January through November 2025.
He made the remarks on December 8 during a meeting with Iranian Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Anoushirvan Bandpei, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
The officials discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, emphasising the importance of joint efforts to stimulate tourist flows between the two countries.
Papoyan underscored that collaboration between Yerevan and Tehran in the tourism sector shows steady growth, building on the longstanding friendship between the two peoples. He cited that while around 179,000 Iranian tourists visited Armenia in 2024, the number had already reached 166,000 in the first 11 months of 2025.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on concrete steps to further develop the tourism sector.
