Armenian MoD: Top brass work tirelessly to fortify defensive lines

Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan has said the Armenian military leadership does everything to strengthen the defensive lines and erect new fortifications and engineering structures.

He made the remarks during the discussion of the government programme for last year in the Armenian parliament, Caliber.Az reports, quoting Armenian media.

Responding to the remark of the pro-opposition MPs about the deplorable state of the frontline, the minister said that this line is by no means in an ideal state, and no one turns a blind eye to this fact.

"Of course, things are not as I would like them to be, and I, first and foremost, as minister of defence. But everything is being done to make the front line stronger and more durable. I have presented the scope and nature of the work in a private meeting in the past. These works are continuing," he noted.

Papikyan added that the defensive line, especially after the September clashes with Azerbaijan, needs to be fully equipped. It is also a question of establishing some logistics infrastructures, among other things.

Overall, there is a huge amount of work to be done in the army, and Papikyan is "determined to see it through”, he said.
