Armenian MP downbeat about government’s actions triggering CSTO’s disrespect

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's refusal to sign documents on the provision of assistance to the country by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) may have various consequences.

Head of the oppositional faction "I have honour" Hayk Mamijanyan made the remarks on November 24, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.

He assessed the current results of the CSTO summit in Yerevan as quite expected, especially given the actions of the current government in recent years: starting from the criminal prosecution against the country's appointed CSTO Secretary General without his recall, ending with criticism of the ruling party representatives from the parliament during the November 2021 escalation, even before the CSTO address.

"You cannot sling mud at a friend and then be offended that this friend didn’t help out," the MP noted.

Mamijanyan noted with regret that in current realities, to ensure the implementation of international norms and obligations, the country must have weight and be a subject of international relations. After Pashinyan came to power, Armenia was turned from a subject into an object, the country is divided at will, CSTO partners afford a disrespectful tone when addressing the country's leadership. All these are consequences of an ill-conceived, amateurish policy.
