Armenian MP to resign as MP for ambassador role in Russia

Armenian MP Gurgen Arsenyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction, has submitted an application to the chairman of the National Assembly to renounce his mandate.

Arsenyan is expected to be appointed as Armenia's ambassador to Russia. The official decree on his appointment may be published in September, the press service of the country's parliament told Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

The media note that according to the law "On Diplomatic Service" the ambassador is appointed and recalled by the Armenian President upon the proposal of the country's Prime Minister.
