Armenian official to travel to UK to work on "Trump Route" project

05 December 2025 16:26

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has appointed Karen Andreasyan, his representative for international legal affairs, to travel to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands to advance the so-called “Trump Route” project, known as TRIPP.

According to Armenian media, citing an official decision published on the government’s e-gov.am platform, Andreasyan will visit London from December 8 to 12 to prepare an intergovernmental treaty package for TRIPP, working alongside the law firm Fieldfisher LLP, Caliber.Az reports.

He is then scheduled to travel to The Hague from December 15 to 18, where he will present Armenia’s position on procedural matters in two cases currently before the International Court of Justice.

The media recall that in November, Pashinyan said construction on the TRIPP project would begin in the second half of 2026.

He added that a detailed roadmap for the project would be completed by the end of this year, with all key parameters expected to be agreed upon by mid-2026.

TRIPP — officially the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” — is a proposed transit, infrastructure and connectivity project agreed between Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States following the summit held on August 8, 2025, in Washington.

The aim is to establish a strategic transport‑transit corridor through southern Armenia that connects mainland Azerbaijan with its exclave, Nakhchivan, thus reopening links that were long severed due to decades of conflict between the two countries.

Under Armenian framing, TRIPP is to be implemented under Armenian sovereignty, with the legal and regulatory framework decided by Armenia (in cooperation with the U.S.), rejecting the notion of a foreign-controlled “corridor.”
