Armenian ombudsman faces official probe by anti-corruption authorities

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has initiated formal proceedings against the country’s Ombudsman, Anahit Manasyan.
According to Armenian media reports cited by Caliber.Az, the case was officially opened on September 30.
The Committee confirmed the investigation and stated that it is scheduled to be reviewed no later than December 29. In order to protect confidential information, authorities have not disclosed details regarding the circumstances of the case or the identity of the complainant.
Manasyan, who has previously voiced criticism of the authorities, had condemned the arrest of lawyer Alexander Kochubayev and criticised the conduct of security forces during the detention of several priests.
