Armenian opposition blocks Kyiv bridge in protest rallies

Opposition supporters in Armenia blocked the Kyiv bridge in Yerevan in the morning of May 4, 2022, closing the road with several concrete mixer truck and ordinary trucks.

According to Caliber.Az, the information was published by the Armenian media.

The police reportedly tried to open the road, but the attempts to start the trucks were unsuccessful. The keys were revealed to be taken by the drivers that left the scene. Traffic is currently paralyzed; the security forces are trying to pull cars off the roadway.

Law enforcement officers have reportedly begun to detain the protesters.

Since May 2, protests organized by opposition forces resumed in the Armenian capital. Participants have been demanding the resignation of the government. Protesters periodically block the streets in different parts of Yerevan. The surge in protests was caused by the statements of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the negotiation process on the Karabakh issue.
