27 April 2026 14:48
Artur Avanesyan, a supporter of the “Strong Armenia” political movement led by Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, was detained on April 27 and taken to Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee.
The arrest was confirmed by Narek Karapetyan, a member of the party’s political council and nephew of Samvel Karapetyan, who announced the detention on social media, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“This morning, the war hero ‘Kandaz’ [the detainee’s call sign—ed.] was taken into custody. I wish the Anti-Corruption Committee a peaceful interrogation,” he wrote on Facebook.
No additional official information has been released regarding the investigation or potential charges.
