Armenian opposition holding rally in Yerevan
A rally demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is taking place on Friday in France Square in the centre of Yerevan. The rally's keynote was the removal of Ishkhan Saghatelyan, vice-speaker of parliament from the opposition, from his post.
The remarks came from TASS referring to the local news portals broadcasting from the scene.
“Today, the authorities decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the parliament on an important occasion for themselves - in order to remove Ishkhan Saghatelyan, vice-speaker of the parliament, from his post. We all know what they are and that there are no red lines for them. But today another blow was dealt with our statehood, the institution and culture of parliamentarism,” Vahe Hakobyan, an opposition MP, said at the rally's opening.
