Armenian opposition leader's firm hit with $2.8 million tax debt

11 August 2026 12:28

A company owned by Armenian businessman and Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan owes the Armenian state approximately 1.1 billion drams (more than $2.8 million) in unpaid taxes, the country’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) said.

The company, “Multi Transport,” which provides regular passenger transportation services, was found to have systematically understated its financial figures, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

According to the tax authority, an inspection covering 2025–2026 revealed that the company had significantly understated the actual volume of services it provided.

The SRC estimated that “Multi Transport” underreported its sales volume by approximately 4.3 billion drams ($11.81 million) during the period under review.

The findings resulted in the identification of approximately 1.1 billion drams in additional tax liabilities owed to the state budget.
