Armenian Parliament approves stricter voting eligibility rules
02 July 2026 18:45
Armenia's parliament has approved in the first reading a package of amendments to the country's Electoral Code and the Law on Referendums that would tighten eligibility requirements for voting in parliamentary elections and referendums.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media, the proposed legislation would allow only those Armenian citizens who have been physically present in the country for at least 366 days during the 730-day period preceding the vote to participate in parliamentary elections and national referendums.
The bill passed its first reading with the support of 68 lawmakers. No members of parliament voted against the measure or abstained.
