Armenian speaker discusses bilateral ties with Ukrainian counterpart

Armenian Parliament Speaker Ruben Rubinyan has held a phone call with Chairman of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, during which the two discussed bilateral cooperation, the Armenian National Assembly's press service has said.

It noted that Stefanchuk congratulated Rubinyan on his election as speaker, wishing him success in his new role, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

During the conversation, the two discussed cooperation between the legislatures of Armenia and Ukraine, stressing the importance of further strengthening parliamentary ties and making use of new opportunities for cooperation.

"The parties also discussed Armenia-Ukraine relations and issues of mutual interest," the press service stressed.

Rubinyan was elected speaker of Armenia's parliament on August 3 after being nominated by the ruling Civil Contract faction.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha congratulated his Armenian counterpart on his reappointment and said he looked forward to continuing close cooperation to further strengthen Ukraine-Armenia relations.
