Armenian parliament speaker expresses regret over Aghdam visit
Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, addressed the issue of his recent visit to Aghdam as he addressed a briefing, during which he mentioned the term "Karabakh" four times in response to a journalist's question.
Simonyan confirmed that his use of the word "Karabakh" was intentional, stating, "Yes, I think it is correct to use the wording ‘Karabakh’," Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
When asked about his visit to Aghdam and the photos he had taken during the trip, the speaker acknowledged, "Everybody makes mistakes," expressing regret over the controversial visit.
The comments highlight ongoing sensitivities surrounding the region, particularly in the aftermath of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
