Armenian Parliamentary Committee rejects ban on recognising Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan
The Parliamentary Committee on State and Legal Affairs has voted against the amendments to the Criminal Code of Armenia, proposed by the draft law within the framework of the Hayakve civil initiative.
The amendments envisaged criminal liability for refusing the right to self-determination of Karabakh, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The project was presented in the profile committee of the National Assembly by the secretary of the Hayastan parliamentary faction Artsvik Minasyan.
Thus, the committee did not support the ban on the recognition of Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan.
Three members of the commission (representatives of the opposition) voted in favour of giving a positive opinion on the draft law, and seven (MPs from the Civil Contract ruling faction) voted against it.
