Armenian PM congratulates Erdogan on his birthday
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on February 26 congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his 69th birthday.
This is reported by the Armenian media with reference to their sources in the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Caliber.Az reports.
"This did not happen as part of the usual procedure, but indirectly: congratulations were transmitted via the [Armenia-Türkiye normalisation envoys] Rubinyan-Kilic diplomatic channel," the report says.
Armenia and Türkiye appointed special representatives in December 2021 to negotiate the normalization of bilateral relations. On the Armenian side, Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubenyan represents the country, while Ankara is represented by former US Ambassador Serdar Kilic. The diplomats have already held four rounds of talks, the first in Moscow and the others in Vienna. In addition, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Türkiye had their first phone conversation in July.
