Armenian PM continues legal battle over infidelity allegations

22 April 2026 15:26

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has appealed a court ruling in his defamation lawsuit against the newspaper Hraparak, which had published allegations concerning alleged marital infidelity involving the Armenian leader.

In the lawsuit filed last year, Pashinyan described the article titled “Is Pashinyan cheating on his wife?” as defamatory, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

He sought $2,600 in compensation and demanded that a retraction be published across all platforms of the outlet on a permanent basis.

In March, a court of first instance ordered the newspaper to issue a retraction of the defamatory claims but rejected the request for financial compensation. The Armenian prime minister has now appealed that ruling.
