This gathering marks the 41st session of the council since the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on January 1, 2015. The previous meeting took place on October 1 in Yerevan. In 2024, Armenia holds the chairmanship of the EAEU, which will pass to Belarus next year.
During the session, the heads of government of the EAEU member states are expected to discuss ways to deepen integration within the union. According to the Russian government’s press service, the agenda will place special emphasis on enhancing cooperation in energy, industrial development, and e-commerce.
The Intergovernmental Council comprises the prime ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. It plays a key role in implementing decisions made by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, overseeing compliance with the EAEU Treaty, issuing directives to the Eurasian Economic Commission, and fulfilling other responsibilities.
