Armenian PM labels Independence Declaration source of conflict, dependence
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has criticized Armenia’s Declaration of Independence, calling it “a declaration of conflict and dependence."
“This is not a Declaration of Independence, but a declaration of conflict and, as a result, a declaration of dependence,” Pashinyan said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He likened countries in the region to apartments on the same floor, suggesting that the Declaration contains implicit threats to Armenia’s neighbors. In such a geopolitical context, he argued, the country can survive only with external support.
“And the expectation of external assistance places [the country] in growing dependence on those from whom it expects it. Therefore, the Declaration of Independence is a declaration of conflict and dependence,” Pashinyan added.
