Armenian PM levels spy allegation against opposition leader
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has levelled fresh accusations against Samvel Karapetyan, the leader of the “Strong Armenia” bloc and a Russian oligarch, declaring that “Karapetyan will not be able to leave Armenia for another decade.”
According to reports by Armenian media cited by Caliber.Az, Pashinyan made the remarks in a video address, intensifying his criticism of the opposition figure.
During his statement, the prime minister described Karapetyan as a spy acting against the interests of Armenia. He further accused him of involvement in alleged violations within the country’s energy sector.
Pashinyan referred to statements from law enforcement agencies pointing to possible fraudulent activities in the “Electric Networks” system, including claims of inflated billing for consumers.
Concluding his address, Pashinyan warned that Karapetyan could face imprisonment.
